Day

Morning, excursion to Amber fort, the most exquisite fort of all was
built by Raja Mansingh, a total contrast to the earlier forts of Jaigarh
and Nahargarh. The Fort is located very strategically, surrounded by
a circle of hills forming a protective cover no enemy could approach
the fort without being seen. At the entrance is the grand gateway, the
Ganesh pol, exquisitely carved and painted with frescoes - in a distinctly
mughal styel of decoration . The gateway leads to the hall of public
audience with its cooling pools and cascades and a hall of mirrors which
was the envy of the mughals.
Jaipur, in fact, came to be known as the pink city when Sawai Ram Singh
spruced it up to welcome the prince of wales in 1876, he painted all
the buildings pink, giving the royal city a romantic, delicate and fragile
appearance in keeping with its fairy tale image.
